A Stone's Throw

I sat in the driver's seat, my wife beside me, singing her heart out to whatever was playing on the radio. It was cold, but the sun was peaking through the clouds so it flickered into the car. We were on our way home  heading northbound on Route 28, when all of a sudden a stone came hurtling from the road and...smack...piercing our ears like the sound of a gunshot. I quickly scanned the windshield to see if I could tell where the rogue rock struck, and sure enough, right above my inspection stickers, there it was staring me in the eye.

The process for getting the chip fixed on my windshield was incredibly easy and painless, and I wanted to share my experience with you. 

I started by visiting ​www.erieinsurance.com/support-center/claims/auto-glass-repair which clarifies the process of filing your claim. It lists all pertinent phone numbers and links to online resources. I chose to file my glass claim online, where I navigated through a couple of tabs of questions about what vehicle the damage occurred on, where on the vehicle the damage occurred, and other related questions.

They verified my coverage, allowed me to choose an appointment time that fit my schedule, and even agreed to come to my office to do the repair. Within minutes, I had an email from Safelite Auto Glass with a referral # and confirmation my claim was filed and all pertinent details about the appointment.

The morning that the work was to be done, I got an email again from SafeLite introducing the tech that was going to do the work along with a picture of the tech. A great touch, if you ask me, easing the anxiety and gaining trust while allowing a stranger access your vehicle, and potentially to yourself too.

The tech also called soon after to give me an estimate of when he would be arriving. I allowed Safelite to send me text messages updating me about the repair so I received a message that my tech was on his way. The tech arrived on time, was well-representing of the company he worked for. He was courteous, well spoken, answered any questions I had about the process both during the fix and after, what to expect in the days that follow.  After he arrived I received another one that stated the repair had been started.

The entire process took less than a half an hour and before I knew it he was packing up and ready to go. Again, I was notified by text message that the repair had been completed, with a link to ask questions, view warranty info, or to view my receipt. 

I was so pleased with my experience with Erie Insurance and Safelite that I felt I had to share it with you. It was remarkably painless, and reassuring being updated along the process.
